Disproportionating Transglycosylase (D-Enzyme) in Green Algae and Cyanobacteria. Partial Purification and Characterization

چکیده

D-Enzyme (4-a-glucanotransferase, EC 2.4.1.25) from cultured sym biotic Nostoc and Chlo­ rella has been partially purified and characterized. The enzyme catalyzes the disproportionation o f m altooligosaccharides and is able to form m altooligosaccharides from soluble starch and D-glucose. The properties o f D -enzym e from Nostoc and Chlorella are similar with respect to substrate specificity, ÂM values and pH dependence, bu t differ w ith respect to tem perature optim um and m olecular weight (40 °C/50 kD a and 50 “C/230 kD a for the enzyme from Nostoc and Chlorella, respectively). D-enzyme activity has been dem onstrated also in freeliving Anabaena, Chlorella and Chlamydomonas. Its physiological role in sym biotic Nostoc is briefly discussed.
